Background

Family Planning Australia has developed numerous Comprehensive Sexuality Education resources which are extensively used by professionals and the community as an evidence-based source of information.

However, many of these resources were buried across Family Planning’s many websites, making it difficult for users to locate required information and as a result creating duplication in many instances.

The ask

Design a new stand-alone, centralised hub that is accessible, mobile optimised and supports intuitive navigation and search.

With a range of visitors with different priorities and backgrounds, we needed to enable quick and intuitive navigation to what the user is looking for through understanding their specific situation and needs.

The approach

After diving into understanding the business context and user groups and their needs, this project involved understanding the optimal user flows, content requirements and information architecture before conceptualising the brand and hub design to then building the new ‘In The Know’ hub.

This led to a detailed discovery report that shaped the content strategy, wireframes, sitemap, and user flows. From there, we created responsive designs, a visual design system, and built a fully functional responsive online hub.

Branding exploration

We refreshed the Hub digital brand and experience into a modern and contemporary brand.

The Hub was renamed from ‘Comprehensive Sexuality Hub’ to ‘In The Know’. It aims to highlight the knowledge that the hub will arm all users with, empowering them with educational know-how to help them live a healthier life.

A vibrant and modern logo, incorporating Family Planning NSWs brand consistent speech bubbles, was designed.

These foundations laid basis for a new digital design system to become the visual and interactive blueprint for all Family Planning digital assets going forward.
